The Estate of Gérard Schneider

"Opus 31 G" was created during the decade known as "les années lumière” (the light years).  Schneider's work during this period was luminous, and his reputation was growing, gaining international recognition. Critics unanimously considered Schneider to be one of France's greatest painters.

He finally achieved the synthesis of form and color to which he had always aspired.

Schneider painted sweeping works, his broad brushwork emphasizing their expressive monumentality; on vast expanses of solid color, single-hued forms collided.
