In May 2013, JR had already invested in Marseille la Friche de la Belle de Mai by asking its inhabitants to plunge into their personal photo albums. Last week, as a humoristic gesture, JR chose to paste an unknown portrait of a local woman, using a similar vignette to that of the icon soccer player Zinedine Zidane that had been placed there for a long time.
On the original photo, Annick Perrot-Bishop is photographed by a friend in December of 1966 at the age of 22, on a stroll over the Vieux Port. JR chose to keep only her face as a symbol for youth and vitality. The image is mysteriously fair and a bit soft. This is in invitation to voyage, reminding all of Marseille as an open window to the world.
