Inspired by a visit to the Empty Quarter desert, The Guardian reimagines the Calotropis Procera, a bright green plant also known as the Jinn Tree or Apple of Sodom. This plant secretes a toxic milky sap reputed to cause blindness, embodying the duality of nature as both a source of nourishment and poison.

Al Qadiri's sculpture captures this tension, with its ominous, dripping form serving as a memorial to blindness—both physical and psychological. It reflects on humanity’s refusal to confront harsh realities, especially in today’s post-truth world. Combining myth and fact, The Guardian challenges viewers to reconsider their perception of nature and its complexities.
