Chen Ke est née à Tongjiang, dans le Sichuan, en 1978. Elle vit et travaille actuellement à Pékin. Elle a obtenu un BA du département de peinture à l'huile de l'Académie des Beaux-Arts au Sichuan en 2002 et un MFA en 2005 de la même institution. Chen Ke a lancé sa carrière à Pékin après avoir obtenu son diplôme de l'Institut des Beaux-Arts du Sichuan. Depuis 2012, elle prend comme sujets des figures réelles issues d’images historiques. De Frida [Kahlo] à [Marilyn] Monroe, elle exprime ses sentiments personnels à travers l'interprétation de ces personnages, en évoquant notamment la situation des femmes dans la société, et l'expérience du temps et de la vie. Dans son exposition personnelle « The Real Deal Is Talking with Dad » au Yuz Museum (Shanghai, Chine, 2018), à travers une série de peintures et d'installations en techniques mixtes inspirée de ses conversations quotidiennes avec son père, Chen Ke aborde les thèmes de la jeunesse, la personnalité et la famille. Ses œuvres font parties de collections personnelles, d’entreprises et de musées, telles que la Franks-Suss Collection (Londres, Royaume-Uni), la BSI Art Collection (Lugano, Suisse), la Uli Sigg Collection (Suisse), la White Rabbit Collection (Sydney, Australie), le Long Museum (Shanghai, Chine), le Yuz Museum (Shanghai, Chine), le Shenzhen Art Museum (Shenzhen, Chine) et le Minsheng Art Museum (Shanghai, Chine).
