For his first solo exhibition at Perrotin Shanghai, Japanese artist Izumi Kato presents new paintings, sculptures, drawings, and sensational fabric installations which were exhibited at Red Brick Art Museum in Beijing in 2018. With the artist’s ongoing experimentation with multiple mediums, these simultaneously empathetic and alien creatures are summoned in front of the audience in diverse forms, lead a journey into our own sense of humanity, at the point of convergence between imagination and reality. This presentation comes alongside with Izumi Kato’s public project at Tai Kwun, Hong Kong; Marunouchi, Tokyo; and solo exhibition at Fundación Casa Wabi, Mexico.
