Hildebrandt first started working with vinyl records around 2003, and they have featured prominently in his work ever since. His first cut record paintings, created in 2015, were made out of the typical black vinyl associated with records. He later integrated colorfully labeled records, and eventually records of many different colors. As in all his works in this series, Hildebrandt pays particular attention to the texture and reflections created by the reassembled records.
The records on the artwork are from the album by Gaubenmann, released in 2022 by Grzegorzki Records, the music label created by the artist himself.
