The installation ShanghART Supermarket is a fully stocked Chinese supermarket installed in a gallery space. The supermarket is open to the public; visitors can browse the shelves and buy goods at the check-out counter. However, the goods are only empty packaging. The installation was first shown at Art Basel Miami Beach in 2007, adding a conceptual layer to the buying and selling of art - empty packets without any utility served as cheap international artworks displayed on the shelves for sale, highlighting the ambiguous relationship between price and value.
