The bird in Xavier Veilhan’s work has been a recurring subject since his first exhibitions in the early 90s.
The artist’s ongoing research into the representation and scale of often archetypical forms, is clearly illustrated here by a non-symbolic and almost anodyne portrayal of the animal. It affirms the power of our collective imaginary and its undeniable links to language: the word « bird » alone defines the image (and limits the space). By applying a facetization to the sculpture, a technique that consequently appears throughout his work, Xavier Veilhan examines even further the limits of our perception.
