Pieter Vermeersch's work combines time, space and colour. By producing works in which the intensity and tone of the colours are imperceptibly modulated, blending together without a focal point, the artist offers an overwhelming retinal experience. Starting from an arithmetic mean that he has developed, Pieter Vermeersh performs a statistical adaptation of an existing painting. Through methodical work, the artist dissolves pure colour into a vaporous gradient. By "sabotaging" the original image, he creates a visual impact, a meta-image and immerses the viewer in a dematerialized world. For him, it is a question of returning to the very essence of painting: colour, matter and light, vibrating with energy.
