The piece "Think Tank" has the fondamental stake of materialising and holding an extreme visual tension of a space, paradoxically empty of image, of speech, and saturated only with paving stones : more than 18 000 separated paving stones cover the surface of the floor. This visual tension is also a semantic tension, which points on the place of abdication and instrumentalisation of thoughts in our democratic societies. The Think Tank takes nowadays the form of private foundations who execute a determinant influence to a political personality in order to bend a program and a public opinion.
The walk suggested to visitors at La Criée could seems insane and absurd, but it is also a strange and sensible walk, by the physical perception of instability, by the clashing sound of the stones, by the fact that it is impossible to walk too fast on these paving stones. The space of Motti gives a time of perception and thought, which is in radical contrast to the saturated spaces of discursive and visual rhetorics. The work like the visitor stands in the line. At the same time dense, solid but also sober, precarious and lightly flickering.
