The indoor/outdoor sculpture “The Time We Lose”, is similar to ruins, fragments from hypothetical architectures. The artist invites us to imagine the architecture, the facade from which the piece has been removed.
A sentence is written on both extracted fragments: “The Time We Lose”, referring to the intrinsic value of the ruin caused by the time passing by, but also by man’s action. It is about giving a new life to these imaginary architectures: here the sculptures are mini-monuments dedicated to the flow of time and the eternal loss of it, dedicated to the words we won’t say, invisible witnesses of an unknown space and time.
Argote associates raw concrete, a very resistant material typically used in modern construction with gold, a precious material that was already used in the sculptures of Egypt, ancient Greece or China.
The choice of these resistant materials with their different uses and origin highlights the strength of the blocks, whereas the words chosen by the artist outline the fragile state of the ruin.
